What was the inspiration for the story?
The inspiration came from desperation, in 2009, I was living a life without purpose, without direction. I was broken, in mind, body and spirit. So… I prayed for guidance, though at the time I didn’t have any faith in the Divine, I prayed because I had nobody left to ask for help.
Once the way I was pleading for help changed (I had been asking for signs and guidance without offering anything) my prayers were answered, the guidance and the signs came…. I followed where they lead me, and wrote down the experience as I went. I have been following and writing ever since. And now… my faith is absolutely unshakable.
What is the key theme and/or message in the book?
That we all have within us the power to change our lives. We all have within us the power to connect with the Divine. We are ALL mystics, created in the image of the ultimate creator, makes us ALL, ultimate creators. It is choice, faith and a willingness to change that lead me from a life of misery to a life I love. Though each journey will be unique (as it should be as we are all unique individuals) the journey is worth taking. It begins when you ask for help… Ask and ye shall receive is a universal truth.
What do you hope your readers take away from this book?
I hope readers are inspired to begin their own journey to happiness and freedom. I hope they embrace the unknown and allow themselves to step out of their comfort zone and explore our world as much as possible. I believe our diversity is our biggest strength. Being willing to open our hearts and minds to other cultures and other people’s perspective offers us an opportunity to expand our awareness and enhances personal growth. I know, not everything in the book will resonate with everyone who reads it, so take from it what you need and toss the rest away. I don’t need people to believe everything (or anything) I have written. I just want to create a spark of curiosity, which inevitably leads to the burning passion to evolve.
What is the significance of the title?
As I said earlier, we are ALL mystics, all capable of using alchemy to create for ourselves (and those around us) a better life. But God (the creator, the universe – whatever term aligns with your heart) doesn’t write signs in the sky. The signs are often unique to the individual, numbers, animals, flowers, even symbols that hold significant meaning to the person taking the journey into seself. When these things appear repeatedly and frequently, they are signs that you are on the right path, confirmation that you are being guided and protected. They are called Synchronicity and they are our personal road signs meant to assist us to find our way along this road we call life.
Tell us about the process for coming up with the cover.
The cover created itself… There was no process, simply a knowing what was meant to be.
What were the key challenges you faced when writing this book?
Looking at myself in the mirror and examining the choices I had made that resulted in me living a life of pain and misery. Then, I had to find the courage within to make the changes I needed to make to set myself onto my own personal path of healing.
What was the highlight of writing this book?
Learning that I am not alone, that there is Divine presence that guides us, communicates with us, and protects us if we allow ourselves to open our hearts and minds to things we do not understand. It resulted in the rebirth of my childlike curiosity and sense of wonder, and that I think is the biggest gift anyone can receive.
